Climbing to the summit of Mt. Rundle is one of the most popular scrambles near Banff. This one was intense. Steep climbs unrelenting that lead to some switch back areas that are nearly climbing rock face. Beautiful developing view along the way, when you get to the gorge it gets crazy steep. Not for the random hike. Know what you’re getting into. Super tough as an experienced hiker. The trees are beautiful . Also a bit treacherous on the way down for the same (summer) reasons and the proximity of the trail to steep/near vertical slopes.
